|Species Authority||Scopoli, 1786|
|Summary||Status: out of danger (Category V), now restored in number, but sporadically distributed. It inhabits the mountains of South and Central Asia and canyons of the Tian Shan Range. This bird is expanding its habitat in Kazakstan. It nests in brushy canyons where the crags can be found adjacent to mountain streams. Its number can be very high where good habitat is found. Basic limiting factors are the destruction of nests by humans and capturing young birds for keeping in captivity as exotic songbirds. Human activities do not frighten this bird. It has been observed nesting in Medeo near the skating rink for a number of years. For continued population growth it is necessary to stop the taking of young birds from their nests.|
